Cat in Belle Haven neighborhood of Alexandria tests positive for rabies

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — Fairfax County health officials are warning neighbors in the Belle Haven neighborhood of Alexandria after a cat tested positive for rabies.

In a news release issued Friday, the Fairfax County Health Department said the cat attacked multiple people and pets on the evening of Nov. 28, near the intersection of 13th and H streets.

Officials noted that the cat, described as a domestic shorthair male with orange/white coloring and a tipped ear, has since been captured, but that it may have had additional contact with other people or pets during the time it was sick.
