Seniors displaced by fire at Skyline Village given 30-day notice to find alternative housing until facility is able to re-open

HOMEWOOD, Ala. (WIAT) — The senior citizens who were displaced by a fire three weeks ago at Skyline Village at Red Mountain in Homewood were notified this week that they have 30 days to move out as the building is uninhabitable.

CBS 42 News spoke with a staff member off camera late Friday afternoon who said Skyline Village staff members are still working with the residents who remain at a hotel to help them find temporary housing.

The reason the building at 269 Goodwin Crest Drive is so dark after sunset is because the power remains out while repair work continues at the facility. The staff member told us they are providing the residents with breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Assisted Living Locators is working with all of the families to try and find them a place to live. They are hoping everyone will have a temporary home by Christmas time…
