Manatee County Residents Alerted to New Jury Duty Phone Scam

The Manatee County Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller has warned residents about a new version of a jury duty scam. Scammers are pretending to be law enforcement officers. They claim residents missed a jury summons, which they say was signed for at the victim’s home. The callers then threaten arrest and ask for immediate payment through gift cards or other untraceable methods.

Angel Colonneso, the Manatee County Clerk, stated that real jury summons are sent only by U.S. mail. They do not require a signature or payment. Residents should hang up if they receive such calls.
