City to pay $8.1 million to protesters arrested in the summer of 2020

The city of Cincinnati will pay $8.1 million to settle a lawsuit filed by more than 400 people arrested during local racial justice protests in the summer of 2020.

The city announced the settlement on Dec. 5. The lawsuit, filed in 2022, alleged police brutality, wrongful arrests, inhumane jail conditions and unlawful seizures of property during the 2020 protests.
