UPDATE: 1 killed, 6 hurt after driver goes wrong way, runs red light on Dover Road

Update, 11:10 p.m.: The crash was caused by a car going the wrong way on Dover Road, according to a Tennessee Highway Patrol report obtained by Clarksville Now.

At about 5:14 p.m., three vehicles were stopped at the traffic light at North Liberty Church Road when a 2011 Honda Fit, driven by David Johnson, 56, of North Carolina, going the wrong way westbound on Dover Road, ran the red light. He sideswiped a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu, then crashed into a 2020 Nissan Kicks and a 2016 Nissan Versa.

  • Johnson, the driver of the Honda, was killed. He was not wearing a seat belt.
  • The 16-year-old girl driving the Chevrolet was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.
  • The 19-year-old woman driving the Nissan Kicks was injured, as were her three passengers: a 19-year-old woman, a 16-year-old girl and a 13-year old boy. All were wearing seat belts.
  • The 19-year-old woman driving the Nissan Versa was injured, as was her passenger, an infant girl. They were both wearing seat belts.

The condition of those injured have not been released.

Update, 7:10 p.m.: Officials at the scene said one person has died, and at least four were injured, according to Dash 10. Medical helicopters are unable to fly because of the weather.
