Fayetteville man wanted in string of crimes at energy facility, Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office says

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man wanted in a string of crimes that happened at an energy facility in Fayetteville.

According to the sheriff’s office, 41-year-old Christopher Thomas Fortson of Fayetteville is wanted on multiple charges stemming from incidents that occurred at the South River EMC energy facility at 1500 Colonial Park Dr. in Fayetteville from August 2024 to October 2025.

Fortson is wanted on the following charges:

  • Felony larceny
  • Felony conspiracy
  • Obtaining property by false pretense
  • Possession of stolen goods
  • Injury to electric facility
  • Injury to property to obtain nonferrous metals
  • First degree trespass on electrical infrastructure
