Thomasville police are reporting significant progress in a recent wave of vehicle break-ins, announcing multiple arrests and the recovery of nearly $9,000 in stolen property. The increase in cases began in late October and continued into early November, prompting a coordinated response from patrol officers and detectives. Officials said the stolen items have been returned to victims, and several clusters of break-ins in different neighborhoods have now been cleared.
According to the department, the most extensive set of charges involves 30-year-old Meleke Green of Dedmond Court in Thomasville. Detectives linked Green to 14 vehicle break-ins reported in the Unity Street and Trinity Street areas during the first two weeks of November. Green is accused of entering numerous vehicles, stealing financial transaction cards, damaging property, and possessing stolen firearms. Police also reported that Green, who is legally prohibited from having a firearm, was found with a weapon that had been reported stolen. He was arrested on November 9 and remains in the Davidson County Jail under a $79,500 secured bond.
In a separate case, detectives charged a 16-year-old juvenile with breaking into vehicles in the Salem Street and West Holly Hill Road area. The incidents occurred earlier in November and involved both completed and attempted break-ins. Police said a stolen firearm connected to the case was recovered.
