Louisville museum receives rare piece of WW2 history with deep Kentucky roots

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Frazier History Museum is about to receive a rare piece of World War II history with deep Kentucky roots.

Louisvillian Joe Arnold is donating his mother’s original 1942 sheet music for “Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition.”

The song was inspired by Kentucky pastor turned Navy chaplain, Howell Forgym, who shouted those words as sailors aboard the USS New Orleans battled through the attack on Pearl Harbor…
