MATTAWAN, Mich. — A Mattawan family is living without a home, but not without hope, in the aftermath of a devastating fire that destroyed their house and claimed the lives of four of their beloved rescue cats.
According to the Mattawan Fire Department, crews responded to the home Thursday morning around 8:50 a.m. for a report of a fire. Subsequently, the Durens and their six-year-old foster daughter are now temporarily living in a hotel.
The Durens say if it weren’t for the quick response of Mattawan fire, rescue, police officers, and Van Buren County EMS, they could have lost so much more.
