Illegal hunting activity leads to multiple citations in Horry Co., officials say

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — SC Game Wardens issued more than a dozen citations to a group of hunters who officials say were hunting “illegally” in the Waccamaw Heritage Preserve in Horry County.

On Nov. 22, officers PFC Downey and PFC Williams discovered a group of four hunters illegally shooting over a heavily baited area on Preserve.

The hunters were found standing in scattered corn with wood ducks lying around them. After checking licenses and equipment, the group initially claimed all birds were accounted for. However, a search revealed 20 wood ducks, eight of which were over the daily limit…
