KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Hepatitis B vaccine was first introduced during the Reagan administration. Now, a CDC committee could reverse decades of public health policy. That’s why Emily Delikat, the director of Tennessee Families for Vaccines, said she wants parents to feel safe when getting their child vaccinated.
“Having all of these conversations, that’s being a good parent. Folks that are vaccine hesitant are good parents. Folks who are trusting of vaccines are good parents,” said Delikat.

She recommends asking a pediatrician like Dr. Sandra Arnold how the vaccine works.
“Antigen is just a protein that is made that is part of the virus. And immunity to that protein prevents infection. But the vaccine itself does not contain any other part of the virus and therefore cannot cause infection,” said Arnold…
