TILLMANS CORNER, Ala. — In an unusual law enforcement operation, dozens of U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service agents descended on a home in Tillman’s Corner Wednesday, emerging not with drugs or contraband electronics, but with multiple caged monkeys.
The scene was striking: federal agents wearing masks carefully loaded caged primates onto vans while crime scene tape cordoned off the property. Several animal cages remained visible from the roadway after the operation concluded.
Neighbors say the couple residing at the home has long been known in the community for keeping monkeys and other exotic animals on their property. While Alabama state law permits private ownership of pet monkeys, the federal raid suggests possible violations of federal wildlife regulations…
