The streets of West Sacramento may just become a bit safer, thanks to a considerable injection of cash courtesy of the OTS. The West Sacramento Police Department has been awarded a $90,700 grant by the California Office of Traffic Safety to fund various traffic safety initiatives, with a focus on education and enforcement.
In the effort to curb road tragedies, the department’s statement details the allocation of this grant which is set to run through September 2026. “We are grateful to receive this grant, which will strengthen our traffic enforcement efforts and improve road safety!” the post reads. Their strategy encompasses not just DUI check points, but also patrolling to discourage impaired driving, crackdowns on distracted driving, and special operations to protect vulnerable road users like cyclists and pedestrians.
