MTA bus snaps utility pole in crash on Staten Island, prompting road closure

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A bus slammed into a utility pole in Charleston on Friday morning, snapping the wooden structure in two.

Emergency officials blocked traffic on Veterans Road West across the street from ShopRite as they responded to the scene.

There were no passengers on the bus when it slammed into the pole at approximately 8:05 a.m., according to a spokesperson for the FDNY.

One person was transported by EMS to Northwell Staten Island University Hospital in Prince’s Bay, the FDNY said…
