Rare ‘Cold Supermoon’ seen in the skies of Rochester Thursday night

ROCHESTER N.Y. — Just last night, a rare “Cold Supermoon” was visible in the skies above Rochester.

It’s a combination of two rare lunar events; a “Cold Moon” and a “Supermoon,” the last of its kind to shine in the skies for this year.

When a full moon is closer to Earth in its orbit than usual, a Supermoon happens. It makes the moon look up to 14% bigger and 30% brighter than the faintest moon of the year, according to NASA…
