‘Something was not right’: Family offers reward in Sleepy Hollow cold case

SLEEPY HOLLOW, Ill. (WGN) – For the better part of two decades, the family of a young woman remembered as a decorated competitive swimmer and avid scuba diver, has been fighting for answers in her death.

The official ruling that Anna Schneider, 19, died from drowning in her own backyard by a manner undetermined is one that never sat well with her family, who always believed there was more to the story.

Their suspicions were confirmed when Anna’s death was officially reclassified in 2022 after the cold case team with the Kane County Coroner’s Office exhumed her body, performed a new autopsy and worked with a group that investigates unsolved cases…
