Reports Of ICE Sightings In Magic Valley ID Shared Online

A motorist who appeared to be gassing up Thursday at a southwestern Idaho service station shared photographs of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) allegedly conducting a investigation. This report has been disputed by a number of locals.

Reports of recent ICE raids in southern Idaho have been frequent since a large investigation resulted in over 100 arrests in late-October. Immigration authorities acted on a tip in Wilder, 12 miles west of Boise, on October 19 and detained 105 people, according to the Idaho Capital Sun.

The agency has made public arrests in recent months in Idaho of undocumented state residents. ICE’s purpose is to enforce laws pertaining to immigration, customs, and border patrol in the United States, and was established in 2003 largely in response to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
