Light rail extension across Lake Washington will open May 31 or sooner, Sound Transit CEO says

BELLEVUE, Wash. — First on KING 5: In an exclusive interview, Sound Transit CEO Dow Constantine confirmed the Link extension over Lake Washington will open on May 31, or sooner if possible.

Constantine told KING 5’s Shanté Sumpter that testing the tracks over Lake Washington is “going well,” and Sound Transit has trains doing test runs at multiple times of day.

The next step will include training operators so the system is ready to go before the FIFA World Cup, which will host games in Seattle in 2026…
