In 2024, traffic deaths outpaced homicides in metro Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A new report from safety advocacy group Propel Atlanta says that there were more traffic deaths reported in metro Atlanta than homicides in 2024.

The report claims there were 425 people killed on the roadways in 2024 in metro Atlanta’s five core counties — Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton and Gwinnett — compared to 410 homicide victims.

The report also shows that 138 of these deaths were cyclists or pedestrians, 3.8% higher than in 2023…
