BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve spent Friday collecting toys across Central Alabama as part of its annual Toys for Tots campaign, working to ensure children in need experience the joy of Christmas.
Marines were stationed outside Five Below’s Hoover location in the Birmingham area for the “Five Tons at Five Below” toy drive. Shoppers were encouraged to drop off new, unwrapped toys in collection boxes as the Marines work to support families throughout the region.
The Toys for Tots program distributes gifts to children in multiple age groups — 0–2, 3–5, 6–8, 9–11 and 12+ — and organizers say donations are needed across the board. All toys must remain in their original manufacturer packaging…
