Under S.C. safe haven law, mother surrenders newborn at birth

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – A newborn baby has been safely surrendered under Daniel’s Law, authorities in South Carolina said.

The South Carolina Department of Social Services said the baby boy was born Sunday at Prisma Health Greer Memorial Hospital and weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces. He was 20 inches long at the time of his birth.
