Napa County Students Name Vine Transit Mascots, Local Winners Announced

Vine Transit’s animal mascots now have official names, selected from entries by Napa County TK-5th-grade students. More than 200 entries were submitted. The Vine Transit Owl is now named Ollie, a name submitted by Kimber from Alta Heights Elementary. The Bee mascot is named Poppy, chosen by Genesis of Calistoga Elementary, who linked the name to bees pollinating poppies.

The Monarch Butterfly on the St. Helena Shuttle is now called Mari, a name suggested by Eleanor from St. Helena Elementary. Eleanor referenced the Spanish word for butterfly, mariposa, and the connection between California and Mexico.
