Little Rock School District starts FY27 budget talks, money tighter than previous years

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KATV) — The Little Rock School District is beginning work on its budget for Fiscal Year 2027, and board members say the district’s financial cushion is thinner than they’d like.

During a work session Thursday night, directors reviewed where the district’s money comes from, how it’s spent, and why the fund balance is tightening. Superintendent Jermall Wright said the district is entering a new reality after years of having “extra” money available for new initiatives.
