Rockford K-9 recovers after reported attack in traffic stop investigation

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – A city police K-9 makes his recovery after being injured in the line of duty.

Dec. 5, just days after officers say he was attacked by two loose dogs during a police chase, K-9 Bob is doing well and recovering at home with his handler.

On the night of Dec. 2, officers say they tried to stop a vehicle in the area of Gilbert Avenue and Rockwell Street when the car reportedly sped away and crashed into a snowbank. Reports say three 17-year-old boys got out and took off on foot.

During the investigation, police say two dogs escaped from a yard on Liberty Drive and attacked K-9 Bob. Officers ultimately shot the dogs and the animals died from their injuries…
