WSU announces 3% budget reduction, students worry for their departments

The reduction applies to parts of the school funded by general use dollars and student tuition. It would not apply to areas that are self-funded or utilize research revenue.

As far as how this overall reduction will impact departments, their faculty and staff, we don’t yet know.

Despite record-high enrollment numbers in 2024, the school said that total headcount does not equate to revenue. They blamed ‘broader challenges facing public higher education nationwide,’ including how student visas are issued for declining international students…
