LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Lansing has extended its Code Blue extreme cold weather plan overnight through Friday, Dec. 12, according to city officials.
Under the extended activation, the city’s policy runs nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. The Letts Community Center will operate as an overnight warming center from 6:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Code Blue allows local shelters to add hours and temporarily increase capacity. Lansing Fire and Police can transport people to shelters, and CATA will provide free rides to warming centers and shelters. The Lansing Board of Water and Light also suspends electric shutoffs for nonpayment during Code Blue or Code Red.
