Winter Haven considers $10.2M proposal for 292-space parking garage

Winter Haven officials will consider on Dec. 8 whether an unexpected proposal for downtown parking garage is really in the taxpayers’ best interest.

City commissioners will meet 6 p.m. in City Hall, 451 Third S. NW, to discuss an unsolicited bid from Winter Haven developer Six/Ten LLC to build a 292-space parking garage. A drafted resolution by city staff suggests officials find it to the public’s benefit.

“The public benefit of this is increase of 292 public parking spaces. That number is significant,” City Manager T. Michael Stavres said. “It’s 21% of available downtown parking within the core study area.”…
