Friendly antlerless deer with ‘PET’ painted in fluorescent paint on flanks

In Caldwell, Pennsylvania, a very friendly buck has been approaching vehicles and families. What’s particularly unusual is that the word “PET” has been spray painted a bright orange on both flanks.

The very tame and extremely friendly domestic deer was likely painted identifying him as a pet to avoid him being hunted. Wildlife experts are urging people, however to leave him alone even though he has not minded being in photos and interacting with police officers.

According to the Cornwall Borough Police Department, on November 29, the buck walked into a business in West Cornwall Township. The deer acted as if he wanted to be petted. Even after the officer activated the siren on the cruiser, the deer stayed around for nearly an hour before he wandered off…
