A Connecticut man has been sentenced to 10 days behind bars after kicking a Wildwood police officer in the groin during a drunk driving arrest.
Stephen Michael Czapor, 35, of Haddam, Conn., pleaded no contest this past week in Sumter County Court to charges of resisting arrest and reckless driving. The reckless driving charge had been reduced from a charge of driving under the influence. He was ordered to spend 10 days in the county jail, perform 25 hours of community service and will be on probation for three years.
Czapor had been driving a Chevrolet pickup with Connecticut plates at about 2 a.m. Dec. 2, 2024 on U.S. 301 near PepperTree Plaza when he was paced at 68 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department.
He refused to identify himself during a traffic stop. It appeared Czapor had been drinking and there was a Miller Lite beer can in the cup holder of his truck. He was removed from the truck and resisted efforts to be placed in a patrol car. After he was placed in the patrol car, Czapor kicked an officer in the groin area.
