The general public can now view Rochester Police Department body-worn camera usage data online. The department says it’s an effort to improve transparency.
The RPD partnered with the United Christian Leadership Ministry to decide on specific events where activating a body-worn camera is mandatory, including arrests and prisoner transports, pursuits, detentions of people and use of force.
According to UCLM, this tool will provide people with direct access to important community updates, events and data about public safety and engagement initiatives.
