Wreaths Across America starts its annual procession from Maine to Arlington Cemetery

PORTLAND, Maine (WMTW) – Wreaths Across America, an annual tradition to honor U.S. military veterans, is now underway.

The annual weeklong journey from Harrington, Maine, to Arlington, Virginia, started in 1992 when the owner of Worcester Wreaths, Morrill Worcester, decided to lay his extra wreaths on the graves of veterans buried at Arlington National Cemetery.

Today, it’s become a nationally recognized event, with events taking place from Maine to Virginia leading up to Dec. 13, which is now known as National Wreaths Across America Day…
