Troop 80 kicks off Christmas Treeland to support local scout programs

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – Boy Scouts Troop 80 has opened its annual Christmas Treeland, offering families a variety of fresh-cut trees while supporting scouting programs in the Amarillo area.

Treeland has been a longtime tradition for Troop 80, which brings in several types of Christmas trees each year from Oregon. Scouts help customers choose from Douglas, Fraser, Nordmann, Grand and Noble firs, with Noble being the most popular variety, according to Scout Leader Xander Luna.

Luna, who has been with Troop 80 for eight years, said this time of year is special for scouts because they get the chance to meet families, help them find the right tree and be part of a tradition that has lasted for decades.

“It’s really a pleasure to help people and sell trees to everybody,” Luna said. “I like seeing new faces, like seeing people I know from school and their parents.”…
