DES MOINES, Iowa — Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen has reached a settlement with a former Iowa franchisee who it sued earlier this year after he reportedly misused the company’s trademarks, court documents show.
Popeyes sued Chicago-based business owner Asif Poonja and his company, Jam Equities, LLC, in September for the alleged branding misuse that took place after multiple of his franchise agreements were terminated.
The lawsuit originally only included five former Popeyes locations: Storefronts on Merle Hay Road in Des Moines, on East Avenue in Cedar Rapids, and in Waterloo, Dubuque and Coralville. Two additional stores were added shortly after, including one on SE 14th Street in Des Moines and another on Blairs Ferry Road NE in Cedar Rapids…
