New Mexico woman accused of financially exploiting sister

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – A New Mexico woman is accused of taking more than $15,000 from the Social Security account of her developmentally disabled sister, who lives in a care center. Kathy Benavidez is accused of using the money to make purchases from adult and lingerie stores, and dispensaries. In a press release, the New Mexico Department of Justice said the victim’s son contacted them about the withdrawals.

Albuquerque man convicted of impersonating law enforcement arrested again

Benavidez faces multiple charges, including exploitation. If convicted, she faces up to nine years in prison.
