The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office has confirmed the indictment of Emilio Rivera, an 18-year-old ex-boyfriend, in the murder of a teenage girl in Avondale, as announced by County Attorney Rachel Mitchell yesterday. According to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, which details the events leading to the teen’s untimely death, Rivera allegedly committed the violent act in the early morning of November 8, after having slashed the tires on several cars within the same apartment complex Rivera’s violent spree did not end with the murder, for he then attempted to kill the victim’s mother, fortunately his gun jammed and prevented further tragedy. The victim, just 17 years of age, was asleep in her bed at the time of the shooting, a detail that underscores the callous nature of the crime.
