Woman dies after Western Avenue house fire

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A woman has died after a fire that broke out Thursday morning on Western Avenue in Albany. Albany Police Department said on Friday that the fire remains under investigation, and three victims are still receiving medical care for their injuries.

Emergency crews responded to the fire shortly after 11:45 a.m. to find the home fully engulfed in flames with people inside. Two of the victims who were rescued were transported to Westchester Medical Center’s burn unit, and two victims were transported to Albany Medical Center with serious injuries.

A fundraiser has been launched for the victim of the fire who died, and donations can be made online through GoFundMe. The victim’s cousin Rathna Gopu, told NEWS10 they were told about their cousin’s death around 6:30 a.m. on Friday.

“They are very devastated, and it’s so much sorrow and a horrible situation with them,” Gopu said…
