Man Hospitalized After Concession Sign Falls Outside Fenway Park Amid Gusty Winds in Boston

A recent incident outside Fenway Park has left a man hospitalized after he was struck by a sign from a concession stand, officials say. The event took place on Thursday night at 19 Jersey Street, amid gusty winds that ravaged the Boston area. According to NBC Boston, the Boston Inspectional Services Department confirmed that the signage became detached due to the high-wind conditions, prompting a safety inspection and the temporary closure of the adjacent street.

Police responded to a call about an injured person but found that Boston EMS had already taken the victim to the hospital with a head laceration. The injury was not life-threatening. “The safety of residents, families and visitors remains our top priority, and ISD will continue to monitor the location closely for compliance,” the Inspectional Services Department said in an email statement, cited by NBC Boston.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and transported by a basic life support ambulance, a Boston EMS spokesperson said. The Boston Police Department said its investigation into the incident is ongoing, Boston.com reports…
