Corrections officer Brian Tellier found not guilty of assaulting inmate, lying on report

ELYRIA — A jury on Friday found suspended corrections officer Brian Tellier not guilty of felonious assault on a Lorain County Jail inmate more than two years ago.

A group of 12 Common Pleas jurors deliberated for about four hours over two days before finding Tellier, 36, not guilty of one count of felonious assault and two counts of tampering with records. The verdict came after a three-day trial in Judge Chris Cook’s courtroom.

Tellier, 36, of Elyria, declined to comment. One of his two attorneys, Daniel Leffler, said the jury clearly believed Tellier’s use of force against inmate Jeffrey Fry in the sally port at the Jail on May 12, 2023, was reasonable under the circumstances…
