DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines City Council is considering awarding a $7 million grant to the Iowa Soccer Development Foundation for the construction of its professional soccer stadium.
The Pro Iowa Stadium as well as the Global Plaza will be located at the old Dico Superfund Site off W MLK Jr. Parkway near downtown. Once construction is complete, the over 6,000-seat stadium will be home to both a pro men’s and pro women’s soccer team.
In total, the project, which was originally supposed to open in 2024, is expected to cost around $95 million, and the Des Moines City Council is considering awarding a grant to the ISDF to help fund it.

According to council documents, councilmembers will discuss a grant agreement with the Iowa Soccer Development Foundation, which would provide $7 million to the foundation for the construction of the site so long as all requirements for its development are met.
