Mission Possible: Historic Cedar YMCA to transform into cultural hub celebrating African heritage

CLEVELAND — To some, the brick building at the corner of Cedar Avenue and East 77th is an eyesore. Another reminder of a time when the Fairfax neighborhood was the black cultural hub in the city.

It was once the historic Cedar YMCA Branch. Even listed in “The Negro Travelers’ Green Book” as a welcoming place in turbulent times.
