North Side HS spreads joy with Kids Surviving Cancer party

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Over 50 Fort Wayne kids who overcame cancer are back home playing with dolls, LEGOS and other new toys, courtesy of the North Side High School’s 38th annual Kids Surviving Cancer Party.

“Whatever’s going on, it gives them a chance for a moment to sit back and have a good time laughing and enjoy the day,” Dennis Fisher, a North Side High School chemistry teacher and the event’s Santa, said.

The party started with festivities like cookie decorating and drawing, mostly elf, or NSHS student-run. Then Santa (Fisher) handed out presents to all 17 families, with many of the 56 kids running to hop on his knee after the gift exchange for a quick Christmas picture…
