Raleigh, NC – Drivers across central North Carolina woke to a thick, silvery fog early Sunday as a Freezing Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Visibility has dropped below a quarter mile in parts of Wake, Nash, and Franklin Counties, leaving tree branches coated in frost and car windshields layered in ice.

According to the National Weather Service, freezing fog will persist through early morning, creating slick travel conditions on bridges, overpasses, and shaded roads. Black ice is possible on local routes and along I-40 and I-440 loops around Raleigh. Residents are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and maintain distance from other vehicles until the fog lifts…
