Old World Christmas Market delights Cedar Rapids with Czech and Slovak holiday traditions

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — The National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library wrapped up a festive weekend after hosting its annual Old World Christmas Market, bringing holiday tradition and local flair to Cedar Rapids.

The free two-day event featured handmade gifts, live music, family crafts, and free entry to NCSML galleries. Visitors enjoyed authentic Czech and Slovak dishes, the popular Kolache Café, and a packed Cookie Walk.

Families lined up for horse-drawn wagon rides through Czech Village, while roaming appearances from Svatý Mikulá, ert, and Andl added to the Old World charm. Live performances filled Rozek Grand Hall throughout the weekend, and the Czech Heritage Foundation held its annual wreath raffle…
