EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso Independent School District is helping its female students find careers in STEM programs through their Girls in Gear and VEX V5 Tournament: Jingle Bot Jamboree.
The Jamboree returns for its third year to provide “all girls in STEM programs of study with an invaluable opportunity to network with higher education institutes, local employers and industry professionals,” according to the news release by El Paso ISD.
The tournament and network event took place on Friday, Dec. 5, at the Starlight Event Center.
Girls in Gear featured the following:
- Breakout Sessions: Specialized sessions on STEM topics, career development, and strategies for success in the various positions in the STEM industry.
- Networking Opportunities: Students will have the opportunity to meet with industry professionals and connect with their peers and future colleagues in the field.
- Exhibitors and Institutes of Higher Education: Over 30 exhibitors, including employers and educational institutions, will be on hand to provide resources, opportunities, and guidance for students.
- VEX V5 Robotics Tournament: will provide a live insight into the world of competitive robotics.
