Roscoe VFW hosts Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day ceremony

ROSCOE, Ill. (WIFR) – Members of the Roscoe VFW marked Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day with a ceremony at Riverside Park.

Sunday’s ceremony honors the lives lost 84 years ago and ensures this day in history is never forgotten.

Those with VFW post 2955 led the service along the Rock River. The ceremony began with a short prayer before a wreath was placed into the water to honor the more than 2,400 service members killed on December 7th, 1941. A rifle volley and the playing of “Taps” followed at 11:58 am, the exact time the attack began.
