LANSING, Mich. (WBUP/WJMN) — To crack down on contraband entering Michigan prisons through the post, inmates will be provided with photocopies of confidential and legal mail addressed to them with originals shredded.
The Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) previously began the practice of delivering photocopies of incoming standard mail, which they say resulted in a significant decline in efforts to introduce drugs using adulterated paper, stickers, and other items.
