MOBILE, Ala. (NBC 15) — The Mobile County Commission Monday morning denied an application by Waste Management to expand the Chastang Landfill in North Mobile County.
The expansion request was to increase the daily volume of waste from 1,725 tons per day to 5,000 tons per day and expand the number of counties the site would accept waste from.
If it had been granted, the site would have had the authority to accept waste from Baldwin, Clarke, Choctaw, Conecuh, Covington, Escambia, Monroe and Washington counties in Alabama, Escambia, Okaloosa Santa Rosa, and Walton Counties in Florida and Jackson, Harrison, Hancock, George, and Greene Counties in Mississippi…
