CSPD: Vehicle hit by train, driver escapes unharmed

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The driver of a vehicle that attempted to cross the tracks and was hit by an oncoming train was lucky to have received no injuries on Sunday, Dec. 7, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.

CSPD reported that around 10 p.m. on Sunday, the vehicle tried to cross the tracks south of the designated railroad crossing at Conejos Street and West Las Animas Street, south of downtown, when it was hit by a southbound train.

According to police, the Burlington Northern Santa Fe train crew saw the vehicle and started to slow down, so that when the crash happened, no one was injured…
