Columbus Water Works rate increase to take effect Jan. 1, 2026

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — The Columbus Water Works (CWW) Board of Water Commissioners have officially approved its 2026 rate increase, set to take effect January 1, 2026.

The commissioners say the nearly 5% rate increase is part of a long-term plan to keep service reliable, upgrade aging infrastructure and meet new regulatory requirements including future treatment mandates.

“Reliable water service is essential to every home, business, and industry in our community,” said Jeremy Cummings, President of Columbus Water Works. “This adjustment ensures we can continue investing in critical infrastructure, comply with regulatory obligations, and support the long-term sustainability of the system we all rely on.”…
