BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — A new traffic signal could be going into an intersection on US 411 in Blount County according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
The intersection is on Brick Mill Road and US 411, where a fatal crash happened earlier this year in July. According to TDOT, the area meets the requirements for a traffic signal, and its traffic office is looking at some interim improvements. However, it has not identified any funding mechanisms for the longer-term improvements.

Melissa Glidewell, a survivor of that crash, said a traffic light would make that intersection safer.
“To me, it made sense to have a red light considering how there’s more traffic in the area, and there is more farms being sold off to put in subdivisions, not to mention there’s a school down this road,” she said…
